HISTORY

‘Outlaw’ at 27 feet long was built in Auckland N.Z 1976 by Jim McKay for the Manville Brothers (Waiuku) who completed the decks.

Construction was Kauri & ply glassed over both sides & original power was twin six cylinder Ford petrol engines driving TRS stern drives.

They named her ‘Viko’ & campaigned the boat reasonably successfully until the early 80’s.

‘Viko’ was sold to Ken Clarkson in the 1980’s and named ‘Confederate’.

Purchased by ‘Steve Crittenden’ around 1990. the boat was re-modified to a single Chev 800hp Big Block V8 & Bravo drive & renamed ’OUTLAW’.

The stern was also fitted with a portafino stern extending the overall length to 29 feet.

After several owners in between including Tony Banks, it was last owned & raced by ‘Derek Walden’ in 2008-2010 with a Mercruiser Supercharged 502cui big block.

Purchased by Grant Valder in 2012 the boat received a major rebuild & converted to a 5x seater, racing in the current NZOPA Classic Class.
